Is it your goal — or your child’s — to play junior hockey and beyond? Our Summer Development & Prospect Skates are the most direct way to get on the Canucks’ radar.
They do two jobs. They develop players, and they help us identify prospects.
Every year, training camp invitations go to standout players from these skates — players who meet the age and eligibility requirements for Main Camp but either didn’t attend, or attended without being offered a roster or affiliated player spot.
For a player who narrowly missed in May, this is the second door.
As with Main Camp, priority is given to players from the Niagara Region.
How they run
Canucks management and staff run the sessions at the Gale Centre on Sunday nights — six sessions, ninety minutes each, nine hours of high-level training in total.
Each session
- Forty-five minutes of skill development, in a stations-based format
- Forty-five minutes of scrimmage, with a referee
Two groups
Future Canucks — born 2013 to 2015 — 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Junior Canucks — born 2007 to 2012 — 8:30 to 10:00 p.m.
Who you’ll be skating with
Over the years, several current and future Ontario Hockey League draft picks and Junior A, B and C players have taken part. Canucks players and prospects attend each summer, so a minor-aged player is on the ice alongside players two and three years ahead of them. That’s the point.
Roster and affiliated player spots
Training camp invitations come out of these skates every year. Affiliated player spots do too — we’re permitted to carry only fourteen, covering the right positions, so our coaching staff offer them directly rather than taking applications.

Dates and cost
Dates and cost for our 2027 skates are to be determined.
For reference, our 2026 skates ran on Sunday nights through July and August, and cost $299 plus HST, in Canadian funds, for nine hours of training. Dates and cost for 2027 will be posted here. Register below and we’ll be in touch with dates, cost, acceptance and payment instructions.
