Every season, young men leave home to chase Junior A hockey in Niagara Falls. This season they have come from across Canada and the United States, and from as far as Austria and Russia. Billet families give them somewhere to land — a safe, supportive home away from home, and often a second family they stay close to for life.
Billet families are part of this organization. Our players’ success on the ice starts with the people who feed them, look out for them and wait up for them.
What you receive
- A stipend from $175 per week per player, paid directly to you by the player’s family
- Two Canucks season tickets per player billeted
- A young man who becomes part of your family — and, in most cases, stays in touch long after he moves on
What we ask of you
- A safe, clean, family-oriented and non-smoking home
- A private bedroom, or a room shared with another Canucks player with our approval
- Three nutritious meals a day and reasonable healthy snacks
- Reasonable access to the bathroom, laundry, kitchen and common living areas
- Familiarity with team schedules and curfews, and a call to us if you have a concern
- Home, automobile and liability insurance in place
- Vulnerable sector screening or a criminal record check if we request one
What you’re not responsible for
- Driving. You’re not expected to drive your player to school, practices or games.
- Supplements, protein powders, vitamins or specialized athletic diets
- Washing his laundry — he does his own
- His personal hygiene products, spending money or phone bill
- Anything beyond reasonable family chores
What your player agrees to
- No alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, illegal drugs or non-prescription narcotics
- Team curfews, and no overnight absences without your knowledge
- Keeping you informed of his whereabouts, schedule changes and missed meals
- Keeping his room clean and helping with reasonable household chores
- If he’s in school, making real efforts to attend and succeed

- We match you with a player we think fits your household.
- You, the player and the team sign our Billet Host Agreement.
