Every Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association and Niagara Girls Hockey Association player gets in free on September 4, wearing their game jersey, as the Canucks open their fourth season as a junior-A team
The Niagara Falls Canucks open the regular season at home on Friday, September 4 against the Caledon Admirals, and the doors are open to every player in both of Niagara Falls’ minor hockey associations.
Every NFMHA player wearing a Canucks game jersey gets in free. Every NGHA player wearing a Rapids game jersey gets in free. No ticket, no charge. Wear the jersey to the door.
Ten from home
Ten players on this year’s roster grew up in the Niagara Region. Four are from Niagara Falls itself, and the rest come from St. Catharines, Welland, Virgil and Fort Erie. OHL teams drafted four of them.
Three came up through the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association: forward Will Fyfe, forward Alex Bedic and defenceman Max DeCoff, who signed this month. They wore the same jersey the players in the stands will be wearing on September 4.
That is why this team applied to move up to junior-A in 2023. A Niagara kid should not have to leave home to play at this level. On September 4, 10 of them will not have to.
A ceremonial faceoff to open the season
MP Tony Baldinelli, MPP Wayne Gates and Mayor Jim Diodati will take the ice before the game for the ceremonial opening faceoff, marking the start of the Canucks’ fourth season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

- NFMHA and NGHA players in their game jerseys are admitted free. Parents, siblings and friends pay regular admission at the door.
The Gale Centre is where Niagara Falls plays all season. On opening night it is where the whole city shows up. Wear the jersey, bring the family, and be loud.
